Henry County CAIP Program

The Kentucky Office of Agricultural Policy provides grants, incentives and low-interest loans to help farmers and agribusinesses innovate and grow.

Henry County offers CAIP, Next-Gen and YAIP. All are 50% cost share programs available to local producers.

County Agricultural Investment Program (CAIP) offers 11 investment areas that give Kentucky agricultural producers the ability to increase net farm income, add value to their products, and diversify their operations.  CAIP applicants may receive up to $3,000.00/year and is for ages 18+.

 

Next Generation Farmer Program (NextGen) was developed to address the growing need for a specialized program to benefit producers with three to seven years of agricultural operation engagement.  Next Gen applicants may receive up to $5,000.00 reimbursement per year for 2 years and is for ages 18 – 40.

 

Youth Agricultural Incentives Program (YAIP) provides support to youth actively engaged in agricultural education activities.  YAIP applicants may receive up to $1,500.00 reimbursement per year and is for ages 9 – 18

The Kentucky Agriculture Water Quality Act What is the Agriculture Water Quality Act?

The Agriculture Water Quality Act was passed by the Kentucky General Assembly in 1994. The act protects surface and groundwater resources from pollution from agriculture and silviculture practices. Who is affected? The act effects all landowners with 10 or more contiguous acres and who conduct agriculture or silviculture operations on their land. What must be implemented? All landowners/land users with 10 or more acres of land that is used for agriculture or silviculture operations must develop and implement a water quality plan based on guidance from the Kentucky Agriculture Water Quality Plan. Once you complete the Producer Workbook, you must submit to the Henry County Conservation office located at 1125 Campbellsburg Rd, New Castle, KY 40050.
