Reality Store

Reality Store is a simulation or game that helps students experience a tiny bit of real life as it applies to budgeting and making financial decisions for everyday life. In this game, students are around 25 years old. They live in or around Henry County and work in the Louisville Metro area.

What is 4-H?

4-H Youth Development is part of Kentucky Cooperative Extension.  Extension’s mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of Kentucky citizens through non-formal education for the entire family.  Extension agents and volunteers take the results of university research and explain it in such a way that different age groups can learn and apply the information to their own lives. Kentucky 4-H believes in providing positive youth development experiences that all youth to experience belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity.

How does 4-H benefit youth?

4-H’ers, regardless of their background, socio-economic status, race or gender, benefit from their participation in Kentucky 4-H. Positive youth development studies have affirmed that compared to other youth, young people involved in 4-H are:

  • Four times more likely to contribute to their communities. 
  • Two times more likely to be civically active.
  • Two times more likely to make healthier lifestyle choices.
  • Two times more likely to participate in Science, Engineering and Computer Technology programs during out-of-school time.
  • 4-H girls are two times more likely (Grade 10) and nearly three times more likely (Grade 12) to take part in science programs compared to girls in other out-of-school time activities.

Country Ham

The 2023 Country Ham project is for both youth and adults. The fee for youth is 2 hams for $60. Each student MUST attend the initial training session in January and two other cleaning dates and MUST give a speech at the State Fair in August. The fee for adults is $40 per ham. Each person must make arrangements to prepare the hams in January. Registration Deadline is December 9th

The mission of Kentucky 4-H Camping is to improve people through intentional life skill development. This will happen through collaboration with local, state, and national partners, research-based methods and programming, service-oriented practices, long-term strategic planning, and play.

4-H is about building better citizens, teaching values and developing skills... It doesn't matter if you're from a farm environment or from a big city. 4-H worked for me, and I've continued to work for it.
